The Taipa Salt Pig and Oceanwater Co are perhaps Northlands best kept food producing secrets. Located in Taipa both businesses take sea water and using nothing but the power of the sun, a wee bit of patience and a whole lot of love they produce two products essential to life itself.

The basic visit takes place at The Taipa Salt Pig and Oceanwater’s solar powered water farms.
Enjoy a wander around Oceanwaters solar powered water farm that turns seawater into fresh drinking water. Visit their solar powered bottling plant and have a taste of New Zealand’s first solar powered water. Then move to the Taipa Salt Pig’s solar powered salt farm and discover how salt is made using ancient techniques.
Finish your visit in our gift store and put your visit fee toward grabbing some of the best salt and water you will find anywhere.
$15 per person with your $15 redeemable at our onsite salt store.

Your tour starts at Cable Bay Beach on the shores of Doubtless Bay. Help the team to bucket run seawater into transportation tanks and drive back to The Taipa Salt Pig and Oceanwater’s solar powered salt and water farms.
